As promised, here is Mantra #1 from The Home You Love.
Mantra #1: The Home You Love Isn't Made From Money
It's true that living in and creating a home costs some money. We need to pay our rents or mortgages. We need to pay for basic necessities such as water and electricity. We need to have furniture to sit on, and pots to cook in. (Or maybe not, if you don't cook and prefer sitting on the floor!) The point is, a home is not free of costs. There will always be money attached to living in our homes.
AND...at the same time, money is not what creates The Home You Love. You can have all the money in the world and can create a home that you DON'T love. A home that doesn't bring you comfort and safety. A home that doesn't support who you are. A home that feels like a empty spiritual shell.
Money is not the primary tool for creating meaningful spaces. Mindfulness, open-heartedness, curiosity, creativity, soul-searching, and love is what helps you create The Home You Love. And, fortunately, these are tools that we all have in endless supply.
When you are short on funds, remember that money doesn't create your home - you do. A lack of financial resources doesn't mean that you can't live in a space that supports who you are and how you want to feel. In fact, quite often, the absence or shortage of money is the very thing that fuels us to create spaces we truly love.
